It’s Lonely at the Top

Parshas Balak

A wise man once told me: If you want to be at the top, be prepared to stand alone. The last 3 weeks pinpointed exactly where the Jews stand in this world. The world's silence about the kidnapped boys was a reminder that we are alone. At the same time the strengths of our diverse & dispersed people which distinguish us as a nation like no other were recognized. It was very tragic. But it allowed us to reconnect with our eternal national character which Bilam prophesied: "Behold! It is a nation that will dwell in solitude and not be reckoned amongst the nations."
